Fresh produce makes it for the perfect welcome
Norfolk’s veggie patch group was formed in 2005 aiming to provide an activity for the men living in the village.
“The group provides a chance for men to do some outdoor activity, enjoy the camaraderie of the group and produce vegetables that can be sold to the village’s residents,” said Brian Clarke.
Money raised for the sale of the vegetables is reinvested in the village. This year, they raised $600 which was donated to the care of the community’s gardens.
The group meets weekly but more than dedicating their time to this group, residents put a lot of love and care into it. “As the plants need watering, there is always someone from the group that offers to attend to the timers that control the dripper watering systems,” Brian tells us.
